Studio B Hall of Fame: Rebecca

Rebecca has been with us since 2015 and has completed almost 900 classes at Studio B! 900!!! We love how she enters our studio - with a huge smile on her face that is always contagious. Rebecca is warm and friendly with everyone in the Studio B community, works extremely hard in class (she definitely embraces the shakes!) and brings so much positive energy to our studio. And this is why she's our #WomanCrushWednesday!

How did you get introduced to barre?

I came to barre when I was recovering from a broken ankle, and haven’t looked back! Barre allowed me to build back muscular strength safely and at my own pace, that worked for my body. I really believe that the strength I have gained and maintained in barre allows me to live a fuller life.

What keeps you motivated and coming back to barre?

I am motivated by the amazing Studio B Fitness community! Each wonderful instructor brings her own personality and twist each and every time! Each class is always different, challenging, and fun! I discover different levels of challenge every class. My fellow barre stars also motivate me to work harder....and I have gained many cherished friends as an unexpected bonus.

Favourite barre exercise or series?

The sideline series. Well....it’s a love/hate relationship really!

Other than barre, what other types of exercising or activities do you do? I really enjoy most sports - hiking, running, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, mountain biking, yoga, Spin, HITT classes...I also love reading and cooking/eating.

Favourite way to treat yourself?

Spending Sunday evenings with my family. My three (amazing) sons and their (incredible) girlfriends are in charge of cocktails...so things always start well! Everyone helps out with dinner and we play games and catch up on the week and look forward to the next one together. Bliss.

Tell us something we don’t know about you.

I love to travel! I grew up living in Canada (Eastern and Western Arctic), England, and New Zealand, and later lived in England and California, and now hop on a plane whenever I get the chance.

Favourite movie and book of all time?

One of my favourite books is Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Since first reading it when I was twenty, I have enjoyed it at different stages of my life and each time find different things in it that speak to me profoundly. One of my favourite movies is Chariots of Fire. It's got everything and never fails to move me. Pure inspiration!

What is your favourite quote?

I don’t know who wrote it, but I’ve always loved the Six Ethics of Life...”Before you pray - Believe, Before you speak - Listen, Before you spend - Earn, Before you write- Think, Before you quit -Try, and, Before you die - Live!"
