Devon is one of our newest barre instructors but has been a part of the Studio B community for awhile now, having first started working the front desk at both of our studios a year ago. Her classes are super challenging with killer (and we mean KILLER) cardio sections thrown in for good measure ; ). Learn all about this bubbly American expat - who recently received her Canadian citizenship - below!
How did you get introduced to barre?
I got introduced to barre when I was in University in Eugene, Oregon. I went and tried a Barre3 class with a friend and have been hooked ever since!
Why do you barre so hard?
I love barre because of the feeling of accomplishment you get once you’ve completed a class. Taking a barre class always improves my mood and is a highlight to any day!
What keeps you motivated and inspired?
The community and other instructors keep me inspired and motivated! I love learning and attending classes to discover new movement patterns and exercises!
Favourite barre series?
Second position plies because of the burn (duh!) and because it reminds me of my ballet days!
What is the best “side effect” you have noticed from doing barre?
That no matter what mood I am in, barre always turns that frown up-side down!
What do you love about being an instructor?
I love the challenge! As someone who has always been nervous talking in front of large groups of people, teaching has really gotten me out of my comfort zone. I also love the challenge of coming up with different movement patterns and choreography each week.
What other exercises or fitness routines do you participate in?
Yoga, Spin and Running!
What did you study in school and what is your occupation?
I studied operations and business analytics at the University of Oregon. I am currently working as an office coordinator at an accounting firm!

I am from Anchorage, Alaska!!!
Favourite guilty pleasure?
The Bachelor. I get too invested.
Favourite movie?
The Proposal because it’s based in Alaska (duh!) and because I love Ryan Reynolds & Sandra Bullock! I also have seen the first Shrek movie probably 1,000 times.
Favourite place(s) you’ve traveled to?
Greece and Amsterdam.
