Instructor Spotlight: Dana
Updated: Nov 17, 2019

Dana started taking classes at Studio B in the summer of 2015 and joined the Studio B Team in May of this year and we're so glad she did! Her classes are super fun yet challenging and leave you feeling energized and strong. Learn more Dana below!
How did you get introduced to barre?
I had driven by the studio and had made a note to myself to try it. Once I did, I was hooked.
Why do you barre so hard?
I love the fact that it is always challenging, and it never gets boring. By taking a class, I take time for myself which helps my physical and mental health.
What keeps you motivated and inspired?
All of the other instructors (you can’t beat how amazing these girls are!) and all of the studio’s clients.
Favourite barre series?
Butt Buster! So many muscles you can work within it (including stability, core, glutes, hamstrings, hips and the list goes on!)
What is the best “side effect” you have noticed from doing barre?
Because barre targets so many muscles, I think the best side effect that I have noticed is when I go to do other activities (spin, weight training, yoga), I have muscle strength built up already.
What do you love about being an instructor?
I love watching clients meet and exceed their fitness goals. I also love helping/watching people find strength in their bodies that wasn’t there before or they did not know they had already.

What other exercise(s) or fitness routines do you participate in?
Yoga and weight training.
What is your occupation?
I’m a psychologist, I have a private practice where I work with individuals and teens on a variety of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, and trauma. I work with the school boards (public and catholic) to assess students for learning challenges, and behavioural concerns.
Favourite guilty pleasure?
Sour Patch Candies.
Do you have a favourite book?
I love reading so it is way too hard to just pick just one favourite! Probably the book I am reading at the moment is my favourite - The Whisper Network by Chandler Baker.
Favourite movie?
I can’t sit still long enough to watch movies!
Favourite place you’ve traveled to?
Zurich and Kauai.
Favourite quote?
"Life is too important to be taken seriously." – Oscar Wilde
Top 3 favourite places in Edmonton?
1. Red Ribbon Boutique
2. Bliss Yoga Spa
3. Downtown farmers market
Tell us something we don’t know about you!
I love singing! I am part of the Singing Christmas Tree Choir and perform at the Jubilee every December.
