Instructor Spotlight: Amanda

Amanda has been teaching SOAR at Studio B for 2 years. If you've been to one of her fun and challenging classes I'm sure you can appreciate her diverse playlists and creative choreography! Get to know more about her below.

How did you get introduced to SOAR?

I had been looking at trampoline cardio for awhile but no where in Edmonton offered it. Then one day I stumbled across Soar on Instagram.

Why do you SOAR?

Cardio has never been enjoyable for me. Running and spin just didn’t work for my body. Soar is so much fun! The choreographed moves, music, and the amazing feeling you get afterwards. It turns any bad day around and the low impact works with my body.

What keeps you motivated and inspired?

The studio B community is inspiring. To see how hard everyone works and the fun, challenges the other instructors bring to each class. It makes you want to be the best person you can be and to test what you’re made of. My motivation is to live life itself to the fullest. To never miss out on adventure, time with friends and family, or experiences because of my own physical limitations.

Favourite part of class?

I love core work. The foundation of every body is a strong core and it just feels so good afterwards.

What is the best “side effect” you’ve noticed from SOARing?

Definitely my stamina. Not being out of breath with activities and having more energy. Not to mention the mood elevation after class! Nobody can be sad when bouncing!

What do you love about being a SOAR instructor?

It started as a creative outlet. The constructing of a track and making it into something both fun and challenging. Then to share it with a class and see the smiles on peoples faces and the energy they give to it. Exercise doesn’t have to be tedious and taken so seriously. You can still get a good sweat on while having fun.

What other exercise(s) and/or fitness routines do you participate in?

I love strength training. I see a trainer weekly that focuses on weight lifting. And during the summer I run Obstacle Course Races ( I know I said I hate running) including Spartan Race, Rugged Maniac, and many others.

What is your occupation?

Registered Massage Therapist.

What is your favourite guilty pleasure?

I have a lot of pleasures in life but none of them I feel guilty about.

Do you have a favourite book?

Harry Potter everything!

Favourite movie?

This is an impossible question so top 3: Lord of The Rings, What We Do In The Shadows, Hot Fuzz

Favourite place you’ve traveled to?

New Zealand!!

Favourite quote?

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." -Tolkien

Top 3 favourite places in Edmonton?

Hansen Distillery, 100 Ave promenade, Whyte Ave.
